Are you looking for something fun to do with your partner this Valentine's Day? Making your own cannabis edibles at home can be a fantastic activity and consuming them together can be just as fun. Check out these fantastic cannabis recipes to make together.

Of course, weed brownies are a great way to go, but there are many ways to incorporate cannabis into your favourite meals or tasty treats.

How to Make Pot Brownies

Before we get into the weed brownie recipe, let's talk about the different ways we can infuse cannabis into a dish like this.

The easiest way to infuse weed brownies is with cannabutter or cannabis coconut oil. Once you have your cannabis-infused oil or butter prepared, you can use it in any recipe where fat is called for. We will share instructions for making cannabutter below.

Alternatively, you can use cannabis concentrates. Simply add your desired dose into the butter or oil in the recipe. Don't forget to do the math to determine the most appropriate dose.

Are you considering just adding weed flower into your weed brownies?

While this isn't the most palatable way to make brownies, it will work. However, you must decarboxylate the cannabis flower before adding it to the weed brownie batter. Decarboxylation is necessary to activate the cannabinoids and get the full effects.

Ingredients

  • ¾ cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ cup cannabutter (or coconut oil)
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Optional Toppings:

  • 2 tbsp chocolate chips
  • 2 tbsp crushed walnuts
  • ⅛ tsp flaked sea salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350F. Grease the baking pan and set it aside.
  2. In a medium bowl, mix the dry ingredients. Set aside.
  3. In another medium bowl, cream together the butter and sugar.
  4. Add the eggs and vanilla to the creamed sugar. Beat on medium for one minute.
  5. Add the dry ingredients to the wet. Beat on low speed until everything is well mixed.
  6. Pour into the baking pan. Bake in the oven for 25-35 minutes. If you want to add additional toppings, you can do so before baking.
  7. Let cool. Enjoy!

How to Make Cannabutter

Once you've learned how to infuse your fats, you can infuse all your favourite recipes with cannabis.

Cannabutter is a favourite, but you can also infuse coconut oil or olive oil for use in all your recipes.

Cannabutter Ingredients

  • 1 cup of butter (unsalted and not fake butter-like margarine)
  • 7-10 grams of ground cannabis, decarboxylated

How to Decarboxylate Cannabis

The first step in making cannabis edibles is decarboxylation.

  1. Preheat the oven to 245F.
  2. Place cannabis buds on a non-stick, oven-safe tray. 'Cook' for 30-40 minutes, gently mixing every 10 minutes.
  3. Grind before use.

How to Make Cannabutter - Stove Top

  1. Melt the butter
  2. As the butter begins to melt, add your coarsely ground cannabis flower.
  3. Simmer on low for 2-3 hours, stirring occasionally. It should never come to a full boil.
  4. Strain with a cheesecloth once cooled.
  5. Store in the refrigerator. If excess water forms at the bottom of the jar, you can remove the solid butter with a knife and drain the water.

How to Make Cannabutter - Slow Cooker

  1. Set the slow cooker to low and fill with enough water to cover your mason jars to create a water bath. You may want to lay a clean towel down at the bottom of the crockpot to create a buffer and prevent the jars from moving or any possible cracking during the cooking process.
  2. Divide the butter and decarboxylated cannabis evenly into two jars. Make sure the lids are tight. Carefully place the jars into the water bath.
  3. Cook for 4 hours.
  4. Once they're cool enough to handle, strain out the flower.
